Greyfriars Courtyard Community Cafe Update
This community update is all about making the dream a reality for the Greyfriars Courtyard Community Cafe!
We’re moving forward with the plan to create a cafe at Greyfriars, which for many, is more than a centre—it’s a second home. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, informal space to meet, chat, and share food.
The new cafe is envisioned as a flexible and accessible space featuring a semi-glazed roof, bi-fold doors, and an outside patio area.
We surveyed our centre users, and your feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. People have said that they would love to see, good coffee, light lunches and of course, home made cakes and pastries available in the café.
Pre-School parents also suggested other ways the area could be used, such as an After / Preschool club, Child fitness classes, Play groups, and soft play. We are also addressing concerns raised, including privacy, cost, staffing, opening hours, competition, light, and blinds. We will be asking for more feedback as we progress.
Building the space, is estimated to cost £260,000. We are excited to announce we already have more than half this amount! To secure the remaining funds, we are applying for grants and appealing for donations.
If you would like to make a donation you can visit the Support Us page of the website and click on the link ‘Community Café Donations’ or click here.
Any donations are appreciated!
You can help us in other ways too by:
- Organizing a fundraiser – you could sponsor each other to wear a Christmas jumper or pay to do secret Santa. You could run a sponsored walk or cycle; the list is endless.
- Sponsoring a slab for our patio area: 200 slabs at £25 each.
- Buying a virtual ‘brick’: 180 ‘bricks’ at £100 each would pay for the doors and windows.
- Our wonderful Book Shop has decided that at our December Book Sale, any puzzles sold will go towards our fundraising.
Together we can make this happen! Thank you for your support.
